Well, it had to happen: after knitting eight pairs of socks last year without event, I finally snapped a dpn. It was pretty dramatic, too, as these things go. I was on the subway, angling for a k2tog, and it broke with a loud crack, went shooting into the air, and hit the dude sitting next to me. Ooops. I'm not surprised it happened on this particular pair of socks. I'm making the Child's French Sock from Vintage Socks with my lovely Australian wool, and it's probably a little too hefty for the #1 needles. (At Spiders last week Veronique diplomatically noticed that they were looking a little "dense.") Plus I'm using the stubby Brittanys, which don't help. Oh well. Good thing Nancy Bush is all about four needles, not five.
I'll be on vacation for a week--next stop Harbour Island in the Bahamas. We need to be out of the house at 6:45 tomorrow morning, and I still haven't packed...or picked which WIPs I'm taking! But the dress is finished, and I'll try to get some good beachy photos to post. Ta!
