Seaport Yarns is a bit crazy... a little too overwhelming and chaotic for me. I'll stick with The Point.

And who knew there was such ill-will for the Big Apple Knitting Guild?

Yeah, it's not really my idea of a fun shopping experience. Good to have as a back-up, though, especially when I'm looking for, say, the entire range of Gems Pearl colors...

I'm a fan of Seaport, but in my defense - it's right on my way home from work, I'm cheap, and they are the antithesis of my previous neighborhood store The Yarn Company (in a good way). I'm sure they would have turned the lights on for you! One of the workers wrote out a basic sock pattern when I expressed a vague interest.

Oh, and there is kind of an order. Tell them it's your first time and they'll give you the tour. If you don't, they'll leave you alone (which is also nice once you get the hang of the place - at least if you're like me and take forever to choose).

Tiny shops like Purl intimidate me, but I'll have to visit The Point - never been.
